The only advantage Mirage offers is being near the center strip.

Besides having better pools, the least expensive Mandalay Bay rooms are spectacular. I stayed there in December 2008, then stayed at Encore in June 2009, and was surprised to see that the Encore rooms were not all that much nicer than Mandalay Bay's.

Mirage gives you a shoebox for a room,

You will have to pay a bit extra for a STRIP VIEW room at Mandalay Bay but it's worth it. The third photo on the page linked to above is one I shot from my room on the 20th floor.

Both are really nice hotels, so you can't really go wrong with either.

You can't beat the location of Mirage - it's right in the middle of everything and within easy walking distance of many attractions, shops, restaurants, other casinos, etc. The rooms are fine, and the pool is nice, but doesn't quite compare to the Mandalay pool.

Mandalay Bay is at the end of the strip, and not nearly as convenient as Mirage. There is a tram that connects Mandalay to Luxor and Excalibur, which makes it a little more easily accessible. The pool there is great, and the rooms are better. You can get a strip-view room, but you typically pay extra for it.

We don't typically spend a lot of time in our room, so I personally would be tempted to choose Mirage for the location. If the pool and room are important to you, then I'd choose Mandalay. You can always visit the animals and other things at Mirage, even if you don't stay there.

Definitely the Mirage!

1.) Has a GREAT location on the Strip. Built right in the middle of all the action.

2.) Newly renovated rooms.

3.) The Mirage has a great location so great views. But like every other hotel in Vegas, you got to get a strip view. At the Mirage, request a pool view because you can see all three great sights you would want out of a room view in Vegas. You can see the pool, the strip, and the mountains (Red Rock Canyon)! It's all three views in one! You just can not stop looking out the window.

4.) Mirage has 2 pools and 3 hot tubs. The main pool has a couple waterfalls making it look very tropical. The pool is very big and spacious. It is just nice to take a swim in the pool, go under the waterfall, and lay back on your lounge chair and just relax. Call over a pool waitress and enjoy a drink brought right over to you. The drinks are GREAT! In my opinion, I would rather the Mirage's pool sight over Mandalay Bay's pool sight and wave pool. Maybe because I don't like wave pools because of an experience I had in one. Also I have a wave pool 5 minutes a way from my house at Sno Cove.

Overall, the Mirage is a GREAT hotel! I have been going to Vegas for years and I haven't stayed at a hotel other than the Mirage yet. I will keep staying there and there only till they close the doors.

P.S. Try Carnegie Deli. They have the BEST deli in Vegas.

Both hotels are great places to stay. Mandalay Bay has nicer rooms and a better pool but the Mirage is more central on the Vegas strips and has a lot of activities within walking distance. You can't go wrong with either. Just book with their promo codes.

Both hotels are fine but I would choose Mandalay because of the great pool area. The Mirage has a better location next to Treasure Island. I would make my decision regarding the price. Check the current hotel promo codes on http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com - this can save money when booking your room.

Yes if you have a room that faces NORTH. Take the cheapest room you wont spend that much time in room but I like MGM better. Both are by several other casinos
