July 1= Music icon Michael Jackson has moved into a

$60 million compound owned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah

of Brunei in a gated community in Las Vegas.

Jackson moved into the 100,000-square-foot property

after his six-month lease expired on a $1 million

home elsewhere in Las Vegas. Someone who saw Jackson's

vacated house said the singer left the 10-bedroom home

IN a mess. It appeared the home hadn't been cleaned in

months.

The 53-year-old Prince Jefri, one of Jackson's longtime

friends, built his Spanish Trail compound in the 1990's,

when he was known as a high-roller playboy with lavish tastes.

The prince fled Las Vegas when his brother filed embezzlement

charges against him to curb his spending. Prince Jefri

reportedly is living in exile in London. Spanish Trail has

been home for celebrities since it opened, with Andre Agassi,

Greg Maddux, Siegfried Fischbacher, David Copperfield and

Randall Cunningham among the residents.

Oct.??= $2 billion TROPICANA expansion starts

by the new owners. The company has filed plans

with Clark County to expand the old casino

to 10,224 rooms counting 948 condo-hotel units.

Existing hotel towers will stand as will the

showroom while the rest of the property is

demolished for the redevelopment. The current

two towers, which total fewer than 2,000 rooms,

will be reworked and merged into new towers.

Hotel will remain open during the construction

period.

tower called "Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino"

on the south-east corner of The Strip and

Spring Mountain where the now demolished

Tam O'Shanter Motel was located.

The 53-stories tower will have 3,025 suites,

cost $1.8 billion, with casino (1,900 slot

machines and 80 table games), meeting

space, shopping mall (with Barneys of

New York), restaurants, underground

parking and 1,500-seat theater.

There will be a 60-foot glass domed entry

lobby with a two-story fountain.

When completed, it will be part of the

largest hotel complex in the world with

7,052 hotel rooms.

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z will open a 40/40 club.

Also opening is a 20,000-square-foot casual

entertainment facility called ROCKET,

a seafood-focused outlet, as well as an

Italian steakhouse, Sushi Samba and a

Wolfgang Puck eatery.

"Jersey Boys" is set to open in the

Palazzo Tower in early 2008. The Broadway hit

is slated for a long run in a new theater.

The biography of Frankie Valli and the Four

Seasons won four Tony awards, including best

musical. It opened on Broadway in

November,2005 and grosses more than

$1.1 million per week.

As in the first two towers, there will not

be a buffet in this Tower.

occupy 5.4 acres, be 57 stories tall, and

have a million square feet of commercial

space designed to bring together jewelry

manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and

consumers. Roughly 800,000 square feet would

be devoted to exhibition and meeting areas,

gem-grading laboratories, classrooms, a

jewelry and gem museum, a café, and a private

club. A 125,000-square-foot retail center,

consisting of up to 50 stores, would be open

to the public. Up to 25 residential condos

would occupy the top floors.

The World Jewelry Center would be competing

with established jewelry centers, such as

New York City's 47th Street Diamond and

Jewelry Center, L.A.'s Hill Street Diamond

District, and Miami's Seybold Jewelry Building.

It will take three to three-and-a-half years to

complete.

is planning to start construction of an

extension from the MGM GRAND to McCarran

Airport. The extension will run north from

the MGM Grand to Harmon, east to Swenson

Street, south to Russell Road and east to

the site of McCarran's future Terminal 3.

Monorail stations along the extended route

are planned at the site of the planned

"W" Resort Hotel on Harmon, at the Hard Rock

Hotel and on Swenson near the University of

Nevada, Las Vegas to serve events at the

Thomas & Mack Center.

Two stations would be built at McCarran,

one near the planned Terminal 3 and another

at Terminal 1 on the north side of the

airport's baggage claim area. Projected

completion date is three years later.

in southern Nevada --

under an accelerated program allowing it to be designed as

being built. The $242 million project is dubbed the North

Corridor

project. It'll improve about four miles of the freeway north

Plans call for widening I-15 from six lanes to 10 up to Lake

Mead

Boulevard, reconfiguring the Lake Mead Boulevard interchange,

and

widening the freeway to eight lanes from Lake Mead Boulevard

to

Craig Road. Electronic message signs, ramp meters and closed-

circuit video cameras also will be installed -- with work

completed

by 2010.

PLACE, the first suburban high-rise condo

to go up in Las Vegas.

Project consists of two 18-story towers

The 3,889-room, 63-story Fontainebleau Las Vegas

hotel/condo-hotel/casino is a $2.9 billion

development that is being built on the Strip

the El Rancho and Algiers casinos once stood.

This project will have a condo-hotel element,

due to an alliance between Fontainebleau and

Sometime in early 2010, the $4.8 billion, multi-use

ECHELON PLACE will open, where the Stardust

was located. The project will have five

hotel towers of 5,300 hotel rooms in five

hotels (Echelon Resort, Shangri-La Hotel,

one as yet unnamed and Morgans Hotel will

open a 550-room Delano Hotel and a 860-room

Mondrian Hotel.

One million square feet of convention and space,

350,000 square feet of joint ventured retail

space, several entertainment venues including

a 4,000-seat production theater and 1,500-seat

performance venue. 25 restaurants and bars.

plus the centerpiece 140,000-square-foot casino.

Sometime in 2010, Widening should be complete on Interstate 15,

under an accelerated program allowing it to be designed as

it's

being built. The $242 million project is dubbed the North

Corridor

project. It'll improve about four miles of the freeway north

of the

Spaghetti Bowl interchange near downtown Las Vegas.

Plans call for widening I-15 from six lanes to 10 up to Lake

Mead

Boulevard, reconfiguring the Lake Mead Boulevard interchange,

and

widening the freeway to eight lanes from Lake Mead Boulevard

to

Craig Road. Electronic message signs, ramp meters and closed-

circuit video cameras also will be installed.

MAXIM magazine mixed-used project planned

for the 7.7-acre site on the northwest corner

of Las Vegas Boulevard and Circus Circus Drive,

which would include a three-tower resort hotel

also have a large casino, shops and restaurants.

Sometime in 2010,THE WORLD JEWELRY CENTER will open

as part of the city's development

of its 61-acre Union Park site, vacant land

just west of downtown, across from the

$2 billion World Market furniture center.

The $500 million World Jewelry Center would

occupy 5.4 acres, be 57 stories tall, and

have a million square feet of commercial

space designed to bring together jewelry

manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and

consumers. Roughly 800,000 square feet would

be devoted to exhibition and meeting areas,

gem-grading laboratories, classrooms, a

jewelry and gem museum, a café, and a private

club. A 125,000-square-foot retail center,

consisting of up to 50 stores, would be open

to the public. Up to 25 residential condos

would occupy the top floors.

The World Jewelry Center would be competing

with established jewelry centers, such as

New York City's 47th Street Diamond and

Jewelry Center, L.A.'s Hill Street Diamond

District, and Miami's Seybold Jewelry Building.

Sometime in 2011, the LAS VEGAS CONVENTION

AND VISITORS AUTHORITY completes a

$1.4 billion expansion and renovation of the

Las Vegas Convention Center. They will add some

255,000 square-feet of meeting space, create

3,200 new parking spaces, install a police

station and put in a concourse linking three

buildings now joined by outdoor pathways.

Sometime in 2011, the LAS VEGAS MONORAIL plans

to open an extension from the MGM GRAND to

McCarran Airport. The extension will run north

from the MGM Grand to Harmon, east to Swenson

Street, south to Russell Road and east to the

site of McCarran's future Terminal 3.

Monorail stations along the extended route

are planned at the site of the planned

"W" Resort Hotel on Harmon, at the Hard Rock

Hotel and on Swenson near the University of

Nevada, Las Vegas to serve events at the

Thomas & Mack Center.

Two stations would be built at McCarran,

one near the planned Terminal 3 and another

at Terminal 1 on the north side of the

airport's baggage claim area.
