I've never been before and I'm heading that way this new years. But I have my two kids with me (11yrs + 16yrs) and I can't find anything to do with them. Will any of the bars allow minors? I really can't find anything online on what to do with kids there.

Funny you ask as I've been researching this all day myself. Ran into this website that offers info on NYE with kids in Vegas:

Hi, I live here in Vegas. Pretty much what everyone said- Circus Circus the adventuredome they are usually open til midnight, walk around on the strip although I have to tell you it's pretty crazy on New Years-alot of people, usually every hotel has an arcade, indoor pool, some have movie theatres. The Excalibur is also a good choice with arcade and carnival games downstairs they also have a magic motion ride down there. As for bars no minors anywhere. They are very strict about that also they are not allowed on gaming floors unless you are walking through to a restaurant, arcade ect. The water show at Bellagio very cool but as I said the strip is very crowded on New Years. Anyway have fun in Vegas it's a great city!

People already told you about the rides at Stratosphere and New York New York, and the festival type games downstairs at the Excalibur. I like to go to the top of the Stratosphere at night and see the way Vegas is lit up. I am sure it will be a good vantage point if there is a fireworks display.

There are also shows on the strip. Last time I was there I saw the Blueman Group at the Luxor. It was about 95.00 bucks a ticket, but it was funny as hell. There is usually a Circue du Soleil being performed somewhere on the strip. The water show set to music at the Mandalay Bay if they still do it. Charter a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon.

It will be extremely crowded so make sure all three of you have cell phones if you plan to split up. If they like trains, get them a day pass for the monorail and tell them where the trams are. Also, most of the magic shows are mostly family friendly with a couple of mild dirty jokes. Those magic shows are very good. Also, if they're science fiction fans make darn sure you go to the Hilton for Star Trek The Experience. It's at a monorail stop. If they like animals take them to the Flamingo for the birds or the MGM Grand for the lions. There are other places on the strip with animals too. Just walk around sightseeing. It's not too seedy before dark.

Why would a bar let in an 11 year old and a 16 year old? Why would you even think about taking your kids to a bar on new years? Especially in Vegas. The city is going to be jam packed full of people, mostly drunken people. Leave the kids at home, and if you do bring them, then lock them in the room for their own safety.

This really isn't a vacation destination for families.

Circus Circus is the cheapest [and the smelliest]

no matter where you stay it's gonna stink like cigarrettes!

I just got back from their today.

I highly reccomend you watch a show called "Le Reve" it is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. Your kids may be scared if they watch "Blue Man Group" I am thirteen and I was a little scared.. haha.

and you can possibly stay at "New York New York" [my favorite]

In Circus Circus, go upstairs and there is a fun arcade where you will need lots of dollar bills, and your kids can play and win lots of stuffed animals.

You can take a little boat ride in front of the Venetian, and the guy will sing for you.

Oh! and I almost forgot! Take the Mirage tram [2 minute ride] and exit, and look at the signs and follow to the Secret Garden. There are Dolphins [baby dolphins too!], lions, tigers, and it's just plain amazing!

Your kids will like the Secret Garden.

Oh and don't forget to visit this cave thing with lots of attractions! There's tons of kids there. I don't remember what hotel it was in though.. sorry. Just ask someone. :)

Also go to the store called M&M World - it's a tad expensive but cool.

I reccomend seriously not taking them. The strip is covered with men handing out FREE pornographic ads for escorts, most of which end up in plain view on the sidewalk. Drunks are prevalent, girls flashing, guys puking. Leave them at circus circus, i worry more about the 16 year old wanting to "get out there" and see stuff tho the 11y/o probably doesnt really care yet....

Id leave them with friends/relatives, and go and have a great worry free time by yourself.

There's a lot for them to do there...Circus Circus is geared toward the kiddos and a lot of the hotels have some sort of amusement park thing...Excalibur has a thing for them down stair and you could do the dinner tournament, the food is ok but its something the whole family will enjoy... At night you can walk down the strip and see shows in front of the hotels...The buffet at Treasure Island they might enjoy to.

M n m factory, Stratosphere's thrilling rides and Circus Circus are good for children. They'll be amazed by the chocolate at the M n M's Factory. The thrilling rides at Stratosphere is really thrilling, it makes you like you are flying in the air. Circus Circus has so many rides. Wish you a happy trip!

Tournament of Kings at Excalibur, Go to the Freemon Experience, they have light shows like every hour starting at like 7. Go to Circus Circus. Go to the M&M Factory. Don't take them to a bar, thats just cruel for them to watch you get drunk while they sit around and do nothing.

Why? You must be 21 to be in the gaming areas and the bars. This is not a place for children. But you can stand out by the strip and watch the fireworks with all the drunks.

Take them to their favourite place where they can enjoy in their own way, allow them to enjoy in their way, offer them their favourite meal. Taking them to the bars is not thje ultimate solution, solution is that whether they will enjoy there or not. So ask them what would they prefer.

I would find somewhere else to go with them. Why on earth do people take kids of any age to Vegas is beyond me. You are so limited as to what fun you can have with kids in tow. Parents need to get a clue!!!!!
