When are you moving?

I am 22 no children and heading there from Wisconsin! lol

Anyways, I suggest you check city-data.com and go to the las vegas forum. There is soooo much helpful advice there. I have found that asking a las vegas question in YA! compared to there is almost a joke. Not that people are not helpful here (THEY ARE!) but the forum there where you can ask questions are full of all people moving like us being answered by ppl who WERE in the same position or those that have living in Las Vegas for 30+ years! Very helpfuL! Good luck to you ;-)

I really hope that I don't offend people by my answer. But it really depends on how much you want to spend on rent. There are some good parts of Vegas, and then there are the not so good part of Vegas. The east side is an older part of Vegas, so its kinda run down. The new part of North Las Vegas is super nice and the housing is cheaper than if you wanted to live say in Summerlin. The Northwest part of the valley is pretty nice too. Craigslist is a great way to find a roommate, if that's what you are looking for. As for a job, try the hospitals, Cenntenial Hills Hospital, Summerlin Hospital, UMC, Valley Hospital, Sunrise Hospital, Seven Hills Hospital, St Rose Siena Hospital, St Rose De Lima Hospital, Desert Springs Hospital. I think that's all the hospitals we have here, I'm sure I missed one or 2. And don't let Vegas eat you alive, I've seen lot of people get caught up in the Vegas life and they lose everything and end up having to go back home. GOOD LUCK!!!

Las Vegas is probably the most exciting and interesting city on the planet and with hotelbye you may find out more. Nowhere otherwise on the planet you may find an area that has all of the vacation amenities that just a total resort location will offer: lavish casino hotels, great dining, amazing stay amusement and state-of-the art tradition and deal display facilities. Las Vegas is surely a magnificent town and precisely what you'd expect from the world-class metropolis, and more, is below for your journey pleasure. One of the areas you should visit in Las Vegas is the Fremont Street, a pedestrian region with all sorts of distinctive sites.

http://lvrj.com The local newspaper - Las Vegas Review Journal.

The best parts of town to live are Summerlin, The Lakes, Peccole Ranch, Rhodes Ranch, Southern Highlands, Green Valley and Henderson. With gas prices the way they are, I'd suggest you get a job first then find and apartment close to work.

If I were you, I would stay in Detroit. Jobs here are scarce (although people will have you believe they aren't) with ridiculous competition, the traffic is a nightmare, and the rents on apartments are rising rapidly. A one bedroom in a decent/semi-decent area will run you minimum $700 per month.

I am a local as well and moving here with this economy really would not be smart. And if your expectations for pay are high, you will be sorely disappointed.

I would start with Craigslist. You can find incredible deals because often times people are bypassing realtors and looking to sell or rent fast.

If you get no luck there, just call a local realtor in Vegas.

You would need to find a job site to see what their requirements are, complete these requirements, down load your resume and browse for jobs on each web site you decide to join in seeking a job in Las Vegas. In most instances you would be able to apply for the jobs you think you are qualified for.

In most instances you might get to the stage of the interview, where it might be necessary for you to arrange a face to face or an interview by Skype.

Web sites might be a good place to find an apartment or house to rent, if you want to go through the entire list to find one in your city and state.

The best place to look for places to rent is to go to the yellow pages of your telephone book, look under property managers.

You might also Google Property managers in whatever city or community you want to live in and see what comes up. Do not pay for these list or information as it is free from reputable property managers.

These individuals list properties for rent in certain areas, so make sure you select the areas in which you wish to rent.

Call several of the property managers listed there, tell them you want a list of properties that they have for rent. Some will fax, email or mail the list of local places to rent along with the address, number of bedrooms and bath rooms, amenities available, such as washer and dryers or gyms, the monthly rental of the unit. Most will include a rental application. These list will include the monthly rental required, if a lease or month to month agreement will be signed. They will also indicate if they will accept Section 8 vouchers. They will also indicate it they have disabled access, allow pets and if so the type allowed.

They might indicate a web site that you might visit to get their list of places to rent. In most instances you would be able to see a visual picture of the rental that are offered for rent.

It does not cost to get a rental list from a reputable property manager. Some will require you to stop by their office and pick up the list. A lot of them post their list outside of their office, so the list are available 24/7 365.

Make sure you don't fall for the scams and purchase a list as 70%-80% of these list are composed of free list they have compiled. They are not the property managers of any property in most instances.

You might consider obtaining a crime report from the city in which you would want to reside.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.
