im going to vegas next month with the rents and were still debating on whether to stay at the mandalay bay or mirage hotel. We'll be there for 5 nights so the hotel has to be just right. Im only 16 so i cant gamble or anything like that. Between these two hotels, which one is more "teenager friendly" with the best service overall?!

At Mandalay Bay, the smallest rooms are 550 square feet. You get an artificial beach and Lazy River. From Mandalay Bay you can walk through the Mandalay Place mall to Luxor, and from Luxor there is another tunnel connecting to the Excalibur which has a video arcade and carnival midway.

At Mirage the rooms are decorated just as nicely as at Mandalay Bay (they are both MGM Mirage properties) but the smallest room size is 371 sq ft. Mirage has a fantastic pool area with waterfalls and lagoons... but is it as good as a beach with waves?

Mirage is in a better location, center strip, in between Caesars Palace and Caesars Forum Shops and Treasure Island, with Fashion Show Mall just past TI. So you're close to 2 malls at Mirage, and not close to malls at Mandalay Bay (the Mandalay Place mall is only 40 stores, vs. 200+ at Forum Shops and Fashion Show.)

You could stay 2 nights at one place and 3 nights at the other. I think that's a better plan than staying 5 nights at the same place.

Neither is particularly teen friendly. Mandalay Bay is a nicer hotel and the pool there is the best on the strip, which would probably suit you. The location really stinks though, and that often keeps me away. The Mirage is a very nice hotel, and also has a pretty good pool area. Its location is fantastic - right in the middle of the strip where there is a lot to see and do very nearby.

They are both excellent resorts but I would say that Mirage is a better choice for you simply because they have a great Secret Garden (big cats, dolphins, and just a place to hang around) + a fantastic pool area and... it's in a much, much better location; for example, if you are fit, you can walk from Mirage to Circus Circus and have a day of fun at the Adventuredome; Mandalay Bay, on the other hand (which does have a great artificial beach with artificial pool and a lazy river, so if you're happy there all day it may just be enough) is really at the end of the Strip, so you need a vehicle to do anything or go anywhere. However, Mandalay bay does offer a free shuttle to Excalibur and from there you can just go to NYNY (and have fun with its roller coaster, then perhaps cross the road and go to GOretorium at Planet Hollywood...)

Mirage is the more teenager friendly of the two. This hotel has an excellent pool area with a lazy river and the Dolphin Habitat (about $20). It's also closer to the Fashion Show Mall (next to Treasure Island) and other casinos with things to do. At night they have a volcanic eruption and next door there is a pirate battle for free attractions.

Mandalay Bay is not as centrally located. There are some attractions for teens like the Shark Reef Aquarium. If you go next door to the Luxor there is the Score Interactive Exhibit, Titanic, and Bodies. At the Excalibur there is a large arcade. All are paid activities and there isn't much available to do or see for free.

Hmmm i would say Mandalay Bay because they have the better pool if you want to spend time at the pool area plus they have a lazy river and a beach wave style pool.

The Mirage is good also, the center of the strip makes this place easy to access all the other casinos in the area and they also have an awesome tropical style pool..

'Teenager friendly' is a bit difficult to come by when it comes to the resorts. Mandalay Bay is more upscale, and Shark Reef is a nice attraction within. It's not like you and your folks will be confined to these buildings, though. I'm sure you'll be out walking, exploring all of the hotels. Each have their own flavor. Don't be afraid, also, to get out and explore the city if your family is renting a car. Visit Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, see Hoover Dam, head up to Mt. Charleston. All jewels in the city.

Mirage - better location on the strip and near the Fashion Show Mall.
